Aaron's going to work in the morning (or I guess today) so I'm up feeding the babies. Zachary wakes up before Bethany, which is nice because I can usually get him fed and back to sleep before it's time for her bottle. We're going to the pediatrician around lunch time, so Aaron will be leaving work early. Yesterday the twins got to meet their Uncle Anthony. I also got some of my favorite pictures yesterday...Daddy asleep with Zachary early in the morning, and then Daddy asleep with Bethany in the evening..JPG)

Rooming In
Last night we stayed at the hospital (and I even got one last breakfast). We were "rooming in" with Bethany and Zachary, which is where you stay in a room across from the NICU. We had to keep track of all of their feedings, and then the nurse checked on us in the morning to make sure we made it through the night okay. I guess we passed because we were home with Bethany and Zachary at around 11:30 today. The first night went well, so we'll see how the second night goes. Wish us luck!!!

Aunt Bridget, Uncle Adam, and Aunt Ashley met the twins for the first time today. Uncle Anthony will be meeting them soon. We'll wait a little while longer to introduce them to Katie and Randal. We also have to introduce Rudy to the babies...he's at Aaron's parents' house right now.

Coming Home Soon!!!
Bethany and Zachary will be 2 weeks old tomorrow! I can't believe how fast things are moving. They passed all their tests to come home. All the nurses were saying how cute they were in their matching hats while sitting in the car seats. They look so little! That's one of the tests they have to pass...sitting in their car seats for an hour. We also gave them baths yesterday, which they love.

Time for an Update
I know all of you came for pictures, but here's a quick update on how they're doing. Well first, I had some people ask about me. My blood pressure has been fine, and I'm now able to drive. Yay! Tonight after the 5:00 feeding our babies were moved to the "step down" unit, which is basically a smaller room with less critical babies. Bethany's eating almost all of her feedings from the bottle, and she's also over 5 pounds. Woo-Hoo! Zachary's eating more and more from the bottle, but he's still about 1/2 a pound smaller than his sister. You can really tell when you go from holding her to him. He's just a little guy :) Now for the pictures...

Making Progress
Thought I'd update with some pictures before Mom and I go back at 2:00 for bath time! I'm staying at my parents' house this week, since they live maybe 5 minutes from the hospital. Aaron's back at work, but that doesn't stop him from visiting Bethany and Zachary. When I went to their 8:00 feeding this morning, I found Zach in a different outfit and two of his onesies were missing. It turns out that Daddy couldn't sleep and was there for the 5 am feeding! Anyway, the speech lady helped with Bethany's feeding at 8 am, and she finished the whole bottle. She should move up to 3 bottle feeds soon...just like her brother! Here's Aaron and I taking turns holding both of them. I also got some pictures of Randal and Katie. She wanted me to wrap her up like the babies.

1st Halloween
I can't believe Bethany and Zachary are now 1 week old. A lot has happened in the last week! I'm starting to get around a little easier, and I've got an appointment tomorrow to check my blood pressure. Both babies are in open cribs, and we're feeding from bottles twice a day. We take pictures all the time, and we even got their first Halloween pics!

We haven't forgotten about Katie and Randal either...we enjoyed spending some time with them at Mamaw and Poppa's house before their family went trick or treating!

Blessings
I'm going to try my hardest to stay focused while I'm still on all these pain pills. Aaron's done a great job posting pictures, and he's totally taken over my facebook page (but won't make his own profile)! Anyway, I wanted to share exactly what happened. This past week has been such a blur! I was first put in the hospital because my blood pressure was high, and it's actually still high, but last Sunday I started having contractions. Aaron was at church, so I was texting him to tell him what was going on. The babies' heart rates were going down, and they tried to get the contractions to stop. It wasn't working, so the doctor decided it was time...that's when I called Aaron to come up to the hospital. They were getting me ready for a c-section when he got there, and then about an hour later we had Bethany and Zachary. Wow! I was back from the recovery room by 3:00, just in time to watch the Dallas Cowboys :) Now we're just waiting for Bethany and Zachary to learn how to eat, gain weight, and maintain their body temperatures. The NICU nurses are wonderful, and we know they're in good hands while I'm at home recovering. We're so blessed!!!
