Labor Day Weekend

Katie spent the night with us for the first time! We started off by going to Mason's birthday party...he turned the big 3! It was a swim party, and Katie had a ball!

When we got home after dinner at Aaron's parents' house, I caught this picture of these two playing. Notice Aaron is feeding the baby troll a bottle (& feeding Katie a banana).Katie now sleeps in a big girl bed!

To Nicaragua and Back

Hello blogging fans, this is Aaron. It was a fantastic trip to Jinotega, Nicaragua. Our church has gone a couple of times before, but this was my first trip. There were 18 of us, 14 from Grapevine, 3 from Heritage Church of Christ, and 1 Doctor from Fort Wayne, Indiana. There were many activities for us to do every day including a mobile clinic, making blocks in Apanas, painting a church or school, and replacing a roof on a day care. I worked at the day care 3 of the 4 work days taking down the old roof, where I got the nickname demolition man, and constructing the new roof. I worked at the mobile clinic one day as a bouncer, escorting people around and telling them when they could go in and see the doctor (see the picture below to see just how many people there were). It was great to get out and do some manual labor again. Most of all it was great to meet the people of Nicaragua, play with the kids, help them out on projects, and show them Jesus. It was a very rewarding trip. The people of Nicaragua will always be on my heart, and I can't wait to get back there and take Amber with me.

The people that were lined up outside the mobile clinic when we got there. We saw 220 people that day. Overall they saw more than 800 people in the 4 days they worked.

Olympics

I stayed up until midnight watching the Olympics last night. It's great because I can record and fast forward through the parts I don't want to watch. Michael Phelps is amazing! It's fun to watch swimming because back in high school I took swimming my freshman year. Here's a picture to prove it...haha!I watched the men win a bronze medal in gymnastics and the women win a silver medal. I'm a little confused with the new scoring system. I understood it better when someone could get a perfect 10. It's still fun to watch though. Something else I've been watching is Misty May and Kerri Walsh in beach volleyball. I'm sure they'll bring home a gold medal!

Is it really August?

The Olympics start today! I love watching gymnastics, swimming, and sometimes track. The opening ceremonies are usually pretty weird, but I'll probably watch some of it tonight. So, I'm at work (at the chiropractor's office) and it's just me. The doctor's already left, I'm all caught up in the office, no more patients...just me! Aaron leaves for Nicaragua tomorrow and won't be back until the following Saturday. He's going with our church on a mission trip to build a home for unwed mothers. I'm sure it's going to be a great trip! I've got plenty to keep me busy while he's gone. Next Friday, August 15th, I'm hosting bunco at my house at 6:30. Any of you ladies who live around here are more than welcome to come. Hopefully we'll have enough of our young marrieds group from church to actually play bunco. If not...we'll eat, make banana splits, and talk :) Leave me a comment if you're interested in coming, and I'll give you directions to my house!!!

South Carolina

Here are some pictures from the past weekend. Last Thursday I went to Charleston, South Carolina to visit a friend from high school. Her husband is in the air force and won't be back for another month. Ashley took me to downtown Charleston where we took a carriage ride, and I learned a lot about their history. We also toured a mansion where scenes from The Notebook were shot, and of-course we had to watch the movie that night. The next day we went to the beach, and I got to swim in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time! We saw the movie Mama Mia that night, and we did some shopping while I was there too. It was a lot of fun! My weekend ended by getting to see my friend Christi at church with her family. And I also had to add the picture of Katie on the Sit-n-Spin! I got it for her at a garage sale, which she loves.
